Employee Experiences

AMANDA GLASER (Intern, Summer 2006)
"My time at PoliticsDirect proved to be a very positive experience. The office atmosphere is very amiable; the relationship between the employees, including the interns, is respectful and friendly. Unlike interns at many larger companies, I was given work that required critical thinking, time management, and professionalism. I completed important, hands-on tasks that made me feel useful and appreciated. For example, I prepared a comprehensive comparative analysis and gave my first professional presentation to one of the company’s founders, allowing me the opportunity to build my comfort and confidence levels for future jobs. Additionally, I conducted a great deal of research, created databases, and wrote briefs for the company’s website. Interning with this public affairs agency proved to be such a great experience because it gave me the chance to execute self-directed work assignments, work within an upbeat office culture, and enjoy a flexible work schedule that gave me the chance to travel around Europe a fair amount. Overall, working for PoliticsDirect was a wonderful introduction to the British workplace, taught me a great deal about Parliament, and helped me build my professional skill set."

"My internship at PoliticsDirect was both a challenging and exciting work placement.  From the first day interns are made to feel part of the team, participating in the daily operations of the office as well as given constant opportunities to learn and develop professionally.  From my two week induction in which I had the opportunity to experience first hand the legislative processes in parliament, to my independent projects involving sector analysis and future client research, I felt both utilized as a resource and valued as a co-worker.  I leave my time at PoliticsDirect with more developed professional skills, as well as a better understanding of both business and politics in the UK."
